Dear visitors of the environmental
competence region of Augsburg,

from the network of institutions and companies Augsburg and Bavarian Swabia incurred to an environment centre of competence an offer federally unique in its type: that of the “Augsburger Umweltpfad”. This environment path offers a survey of services and products, innovations and know-how. It presents the environment competence region with the city of Augsburg and its neighbouring counties Aichach-Friedberg and Augsburg-Land in their variety and quality to visitors.

The “Augsburger Umweltpfad” is different from what the name might suggest: It is no didactic nature trail, but – predominantly in any case – a guidebook to establishments and companies, which deal with technical environmental protection or incorporate environmental protection effectively into the product formation. Renowned research establishments and partially globally operating companies such as Fujitsu Siemens or ArvinMeritor are put forward in the brochure.

Guests from all over the world are invited to learn from the environment competence of 33 institutions and companies with on-sight tours and visits. Bookings are received directly via Internet under www.augsburg-tourismus.de or by fax 08 21/5 02 07-45 by REGIO Augsburg Tourismus GmbH.

All stations of this environment path show that the network of the Bavarian centre of competence not only contributes to intact environment. They show that environmental protection today is a dynamic impulse to develop products and procedures, secure jobs as well as the structural change in the region. Environmental protection became also a contribution to the quality of life and, besides, an important economic factor in Augsburg and the neighbouring country circles.
